Scott Edwards

Scott joins CSF after seven years at Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) as the Latin America and Caribbean Director in the Oceans Program. Scott managed sustainable fisheries programs in Mexico, Cuba and Belize, and was instrumental in launching EDF’s Mexico office in La Paz, Baja California. During the last two years of his tenure at EDF, Scott managed a global community-based fisheries management initiative to address overfishing in hundreds of communities in places like Indonesia, Brazil and the Philippines. Prior to EDF, Scott was the Senior Director at the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). At NPCA, Scott created an international program to provide protected area managers with private sector business tools to improve their capacity for revenue generation and cost effectiveness. In addition, Scott managed multi-year projects writing business plans for the US National Park Service and the US Forest Service. He served as a technical advisor to the United Nations Development Program on the $25 million project to enhance financial sustainability for protected area systems in six countries, and has led numerous workshops in developing countries on business planning and conservation finance. He has extensive experience working in Belize, Jamaica, Madagascar, France, and several countries of the former Soviet Union. Scott also held the position of labor market analyst at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France for six years. Scott holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and an M.B.A. from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He enjoys travel, playing ultimate frisbee, cycling, surfing and spending time with his wife and two young children.

Tem 15 anos de experiência com contabilidade, contratação e gestão de projeto. Holly tem bacharelado em Contabilidade e recentemente completou sem mestrado na Humboldt State University.

Alfonso Malky

Alfonso juntou-se ao CSF-Bolívia no início de 2008, como Analista Econômico Boliviano. Tem mestrado em Economia Agrícola, obtido na Universidade Católica do Chile e um curso em Economia da Universidade Católica Boliviana. Tem experiência em economia da conservação, com projetos relacionados ao uso da terra, gestão de recursos naturais e ecoturismo; tem também grande experiência em projeto, monitoramento e avaliação de políticas públicas, com ênfase em agricultura, florestas e ambiente. Antes de trabalhar no CSF, Alfonso trabalhou na Unidade de Análise de Política Social e Econômica (UDAPE) e participou do projeto e avaliação de políticas relacionadas à regulação do uso de recursos naturais, desenvolvimento rural, gestão de florestas sustentáveis e mudança de clima, entre outros. Tem também experiência em micro finanças e propostas de projeto para o desenvolvimento econômico e redução da pobreza na Bolívia. Alfonso chegou ao CSF como participante do curso de instrumentos econômicos no Parque Nacional de Madidi (2006); desde então, participou em diversos cursos e workshops internacionais relacionados às ferramentas econômicas para conservação, gestão de recursos naturais e avaliação de bens e serviços.

Kim Bonine

Kim associou-se ao CSF em 2001, após três anos com o Center for Environmental Science and Policy na Universidade de Stanford. Sua obra em Stanford focou pesquisa ecológica e econômica nas florestas de mangue de Kosrae, na Micronésia. Estudou também o impacto da fragmentação do hábitat da floresta no México e trabalhou com estratégias de desenvolvimento comunitário para a mitigação da pobreza com o Banco Mundial em Zimbábue. Kim tem mestrado em Sistema da Terra e é graduada em Biologia Humana, ambos os títulos da Universidade de Stanford.

Aaron joined CSF as Senior Economist in 2013 with 15 years of experience leading conservation initiatives and research in developing countries. He was most recently the Director of Economics and Planning at Conservation International, where he led research on protected area benefits and costs for the European Community's global TEEB report and developed strategy for major Green Economy initiatives in Indonesia and Cambodia. Aaron has experience in conservation and development, including ecosystem service values, development planning, negotiating conservation incentive agreements, and the role of protected areas. He holds a Masters in Public Policy with a concentration in economics from Princeton University and an undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in Environmental Studies from Wesleyan University.

Mubariq Ahmad

Mubariq has enjoyed a 30-year career working as an economic policy researcher and professional activist in a variety of organizations including The World Bank, WWF, and LEI/Indonesian Ecolabeling Institute. Among Mubariq's many accomplishments was co-writing and leading the development of Indonesia's National REDD+ Strategy, and the development and promotion of Heart of Borneo Initiative and the Coral Triangle Initiative. Mubariq holds a Ph.D.in Natural Resources and Environmental Economics from Michigan State University, an MA in Economics from Columbia University, and a Bachelor in Economics from University of Indonesia. Mubariq will guide CSF's Marine Conservation Economics program, and launch CSF's work on forest conservation across Indonesia's globally significant natural landscapes.

Pedro Gasparinetti

Pedro juntou-se à equipe em 2016 para contribuir no projeto sobre valores dos serviços ambientais de manguezais. É formado em economia, com mestrado em economia ambiental pela Universidade de Brasília, tendo como foco métodos de valoração ambiental por preferência declarada e modelagem de escolhas. Antes de chegar à CSF, trabalhou como consultor em projetos para o Ministério do Meio Ambiente, Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento (BID) e o Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (IPEA), abordando temas como economia dos ecossistemas e biodiversidade no projeto TEEB-Brasil, pegada ecológica, avaliação de projetos de infraestrutura urbana, comparação entre projetos com abordagens baseadas em ecossistemas e abordagens de engenharia tradicional.

Frank Merry

Frank Merry, Ph.D. joined CSF in 2017 as a Senior Research Fellow. Prior to this Frank was a Research Associate Professor of Natural Resource Economics in the Department of Forests and Environmental Conservation at Virginia Tech. Frank also served as a Director at Alianca da Terra, a Brazilian non-profit organization (www.aliancadaterra.org) focused on improving agricultural production in the Brazilian Amazon and Cerrado. He has published numerous articles on land and forest economics, including topics ranging from forest policy and timber trade to the economics of smallholders and cattle ranching. At Alianca da Terra, Frank was responsible for institutional strengthening and fundraising. Previously, as a research scientist at the Woods Hole Research Center, Frank was the lead economist on the Amazon Scenarios Project— a multi-institutional land use change modeling project. Frank has wide-ranging experience in international development and more than 15 years of work in the Amazon region. He is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, and has worked or conducted research in Bolivia, Brazil, Mozambique, Peru, Senegal, and Trinidad. Frank speaks Portuguese and Spanish, lives in Carrboro, North Carolina and has two daughters. He is a recreational cyclist and occasional surfer, but his spare time is mostly spent taking his daughters to swim meets and school events.
