Alejandra Gonzales Rocabado
Alejandra Gonzales Rocabado is an environmental economist specializing in climate finance and policy, and environmental valuation. At Conservation Strategy Fund, she leads initiatives linking finance and policy to advance forest conservation and climate action across Bolivia and the Amazon. Her work includes the analysis of investment needs and employment content of Bolivia’s NDCs, the Permanent Financing Project for Protected Areas, and the design of benefit-distribution mechanisms for the Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest finance Coalition. She also contributed to the formulation of Bolivia’s NDC 3.0, developing mitigation targets for the agricultural and forest sectors.
Regionally, Alejandra co-developed a comprehensive mapping of innovative finance mechanisms for the Amazon. She has represented Bolivia in international climate forums such as COP 29 in Baku and is an active member of the Youth Advisory Committee of the Science Panel for the Amazon. A Chevening Scholar, she holds an MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Economics from the Bolivian Catholic University. Her graduate dissertation on tourism and forest preservation earned the Bolivian Central Bank’s Thesis Award in 2024. She has participated in several global fellowships and sustainability leadership programs. Outside of work, she enjoys CrossFit, soccer, and outdoor running.
