Our Numbers For Nature Training Institute Joins the Global Capacity Building Coalition!
Last month, our global training program, Conservation Strategy Fund’s Numbers for Nature Training Institute (N4N) officially joined the Global Capacity Building Coalition, a global network of United Nations agencies, multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, philanthropies, public and private finance bodies, and capacity building providers.
Our membership is an exciting step forward in deepening our engagement with the finance sector and other environmental capacity development institutions. Since 2023, our training program has gained membership in several coalitions and networks of like-minded organizations, institutions, and more, including the Capitals Coalition, the Conservation Leadership Transformation Network (CLTN), and the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People.
The Global Capacity Building Coalition (GCBC) was launched at the 28th United Nations Climate Conference of the Parties (COP 28) to “streamline access, improve availability, and enhance the effectiveness of sustainable finance capacity building and technical assistance for EMDE financial institutions, professionals, and others.” Founding members of the Coalition include the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA), UN Development Programme (UNDP), Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB), and more. Its growing member base works with more than 5,000 public and private financial institutions, 160 financial centres and exchanges, and millions of finance professionals in almost every country in the world.
Interest in capacity building in climate and biodiversity finance soared after the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), and it continues to be one of the most sought topics for economics and finance capacity development. Since Conservation Finance Alliance (CFA) joined forces with CSF in early 2024, our training programme has worked closely with CFA Executive Director David Meyers to enhance our conservation finance courses and modules on the Numbers for Nature virtual learning platform. Our membership in this Coalition, which uniquely targets the finance sector, allows us to reach new audiences with our courses on their virtual Education & Training Hub, including our most popular self-paced course Introduction to Conservation Finance.
We are thrilled to be a part of this collaborative network and look forward to seeing what our future holds with the Global Capacity Building Coalition!
