On November 19, 2025, during the second week of COP30, Conservation Strategy Fund convened an Evening of Impact in Belém do Pará. The event brought together 50 leaders from government, civil society, and CSF’s global alumni network to celebrate breakthroughs in conservation and chart a bold path forward for climate and biodiversity action. It was an inspiring gathering made possible by the generous support of the Dry Creek Foundation. 
On November 17, 2025, during COP30, we hosted “Financing Nature – A Practical Workshop to Prioritize Financial Mechanisms for Conservation Impact” at the ARAYARA – Amazon Climate Hub in Belém, Brazil. The workshop brought together people working in conservation for an interactive session focused on practical ways to access and prioritize financing for nature-based solutions.
I have just returned from COP16 in Cali with mixed emotions of pride in how far we have come and an urgency to move even farther. If you remember, I attended the 15th COP in 2022 held in Montreal and I shared with you the seven things that CSF can contribute to the Global Biodiversity Framework, and more specifically on which targets we could apply our economic tools and capacity building expertise.

Between January and May 2023, the Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF) -in consortium with Kara Solar and the Binational Development Plan of the Peru-Ecuador border region- participated in the second phase of the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) to promote the fluvial transport powered by solar energy in the Peruvian Amazon. Seeking to replicate in the country the initiative developed by Kara Solar in Ecuador for solar boats, our project was one of the eight projects selected to receive advice and financial tools to strengthen this low-carbon innovation and attract financing.
I recently returned from my first Conference of the Parties (COP) from the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) that took place in Montreal, Canada. I was inspired by the events I attended, the positivity and hope surrounding our meetings and objectives, and by the final agreement on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). I can only imagine what it must have taken to get 190+ countries to agree on the 23 targets in those final few hours of the conference.
