Green Sintang Capacity Building Workshop: Sustainable Development Planning
In February, we held a five-day Capacity Building Workshop on Sustainable Development Planning as part our ongoing collaborative engagement with the Sintang district government in West Kalimantan, Indonesia for the Green Sintang initiative. The workshop focused on increasing the capacity of stakeholders from both government and non-governmental institutions in sectoral development planning to support the District Action Plan for Green Sintang 2030, which will ensure collaborative engagement among stakeholders to fully implement the plan.
The workshop was attended by about sixty people from government and non-governmental institutions who offered many insights and critical suggestions regarding the challenges in creating sectoral development planning. In general, there was a consensus on the cooperation among stakeholders in order to implement the Green Sintang 2030.
Sintang government representative Yustinus, who opened the workshop, expressed his full support and hope that this will help Sintang’s efforts to fully implement their Green initiatives. As the threats of climate change and deforestation are real and increasing, Sintang strives to be an example of sustainable development for other districts.
This workshop marked the beginning of Green Sintang Phase 2 which officially launched in October 2019. CSF-Indonesia will continue our collaboration with the Sintang government in facilitating this process over the next several years. Stay tuned for more updates on this long-term policy engagement. As always, we are grateful to The David and Lucile Packard Foundation for making this work possible.
