CSF at COP30: Economics for Climate Action
Conservation Strategy Fund is heading to COP30 with a delegation led by Julia Queiroz, CSF Brazil Director, and Natalia Sanin Acevedo, Director of the Numbers for Nature Training Institute. Together, they will bring CSF’s unique approach into the heart of climate negotiations: using the power of economics to align development and climate goals.
By putting a value on nature’s benefits, CSF demonstrates why protecting forests, wetlands, and coasts is not only essential for biodiversity, but also the smartest investment for people, economies, and the planet.
Our Contributions to Global Climate Goals
Strengthening Nature-Based Solutions
Our research and tools such as the Restoration and Mining Impact Calculators reveal the true social and economic impacts of land-use decisions. These tools build the evidence base to scale investments in nature-based solutions by showing their cost-effectiveness compared to traditional development approaches.
Designing and Scaling Innovative Climate Finance
We support governments and organizations as they design financial instruments from green bonds, debt-for-nature swaps, carbon and biodiversity credits, to conservation trust funds. With these mechanisms and our strategic partnership with Conservation Finance Alliance, our expertise helps direct capital to where it can have the greatest impact for a sustainable, equitable future.
Centering Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IP&LCs)
Our analyses quantify the climate value of Indigenous stewardship and equip IP&LCs with the training and evidence needed to access finance directly, or simply defend their own natural capital against traditional development. We advocate for financing systems that recognize and reward the high return-on-investment of Indigenous-led conservation.
Training a Global Network of Climate Leaders
Through our training program and the Numbers for Nature Training Institute, nearly 7,000 leaders in 130 countries have strengthened their capacity to design climate-smart policies. This alumni network is helping to shape climate solutions around the world.
Informing Energy and Infrastructure Transitions
Our work on the economic costs of roads, dams, and energy projects helps countries chart resilient, low-emission development pathways.
From Brazil to the World
From the depths of the Amazon rainforest to the tropical coasts of Bahia, CSF Brazil demonstrates how nature is the best investment for the climate. At COP30, our delegation will highlight how strategic use of economics can turn global climate pledges into practical finance and policy solutions.
