Yuerlita is a Lecturer at Andalas University, Padang, Indonesia. Her research is entitled “Socio-economic analysis of small-scale fishermen in the western waters of Sumatra.” This research will analyze the poverty characterization of small-scale fishermen in the territorial waters of West Sumatra, measure the welfare level of fishermen and identify social factors, economic and environmental factors that are suspected of influencing the poverty of small-scale fishing communities, analyze the level of influence of social, economic and environmental factors on fishermen's poverty rate based on the characteristics of fishing businesses, and formulate strategies and policies for poverty alleviation for fishing communities small scale in the waters west of Sumatra.
