Malu Almeida
Malu joined CSF in 2025 as a Senior Consultant specializing in restoration economics and conservation finance. With expertise in cost-benefit analysis, forest economics, and forest landscape restoration frameworks, she develops models for forest restoration projects and cost-estimation tools for investor-facing contexts. Her research focuses on forest concessions, green productivity, and financial mechanisms for large-scale restoration across Amazonian and Cerrado biomes. She also maintains research interests in bibliometric analysis and science mapping for conservation and forestry literature. Previously, she served as Technical Advisor at Brazil's National Forest Service (SFB/MMA) in forest concessions policy and monitoring, and was a researcher at the AgLaw Centre (UNE/Australia) and at the University of New England (Australia). Malu has published work on restoration economics and is an active member of IUFRO, SOBER, and the Society for Ecological Restoration. She holds a Ph.D. and Masters in Economics from the University of Brasilia and a degree in Forest Engineering. Outside work, she practices crochet, gardening, and cooking.
