Are you passionate about mission-driven, strategic communications and interested in gaining experience in the non-profit sector? Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF)  is seeking a motivated Digital Communications Intern to help engage our global network of course alumni and assist in podcast production with our dynamic team. At the end of this three month paid internship, you will have gained valuable experience in audio, video, and graphic design, executing email and social media campaigns for a global audience, and new connections in the environmental field.  

The intern will work directly with CSF’s global training and communications team to support Conservation Strategy Fund’s strategic communications goals, particularly with CSF’s capacity-building program. They will have the opportunity to shape CSF’s alumni engagement strategy,  bringing together over 5,000 conservation professionals from around the world, develop new episodes for our podcast, 4Nature, as well as assist with other strategic communications activities on behalf of CSF.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Explore alumni archives and organize information about CSF’s alumni network, which can include some data analysis.
  • Help develop a short and long-term engagement plan for CSF’s network of over 5,000 alumni.
  • Draft strategic communications for CSF’s alumni network as necessary.
  • Podcast editing for 30 min to 1 hour long episodes of 4Nature Podcast.
  • Assist with marketing and administration for the 4Nature podcast.
  • Building social media content for CSF training courses and projects. 
  • Help maintain Conservation Strategy Fund and the Numbers For Nature Training Institute websites.
  • Drafting marketing materials, including social media and blog posts, as necessary.
  • Other communication and administrative tasks, such as proofreading and editing articles.

Important Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
  • Video and audio editing experience, especially for professional audiences.
  • Proficient with both Microsoft Office (Excel) and Google Drive.
  • Basic graphic design skills, including proficiency in Canva or other Graphic Design software.
  • Quick learning ability with new platforms and online applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Independent work ethic and ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Additional Desired Skills

  • Academic background or interest in environmental conservation, environmental economics, sustainable development, or related field
  • Intercultural competence and comfort with communicating with international audiences
  • Comfortable organizing and interpreting data
  • Language skills, especially Spanish, Portuguese, Bahasa and/or French

Internship Dates: June-August 2024, with the possibility of extension
Expected Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
CSF will provide a stipend of $1,000 per month
This is a remote internship which can be done from anywhere in the world, however, overlap with US East Coast working hours is required.
