Chosen from a highly competitive pool of alumni, these fellows were recognized for their strong commitment to sustainable development, environmental economics, and community empowerment.

Background: A Region of Rich Resources and Deep TraditionsLocated in West Kalimantan, Sintang Regency spans approximately 21,000 square kilometers and is home to over 438,000 people. It holds significant natural assets: 1.3 million hectares of forest, rich biodiversity in national parks, and abundant freshwater systems, including rivers and lakes that sustain traditional livelihoods. The region is also culturally rich, with communities like the Dayak and Malay maintaining strong spiritual and practical ties to the land.

Since we launched our programs in Indonesia in 2015, demand continues to grow for CSF’s unique approach to training and capacity building. In response, we are working to build a pool of Indonesian instructors to help us meet the demand for more training on the national, subnational, and local levels, to ultimately help stakeholders use economics to effectively and sustainably manage marine resources.
