Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) New Zealand conducted the Field Course. This activity was held for 17 days i.e. on 14-30 August 2016 in two locations, namely Hoga Island, Wakatobi and Pari Island, Jakarta. A total of 14 students from VUW and 6 from Indonesia followed this activity.
 
Dean of FPIK of IPB, Dr. Luky Adrianto, welcomed this activity and looked forward to an information exchange of insight between the students of VUW and Indonesia especially IPB. “We hope that this activity is a good start in initiating a broader collaboration with the VUW,” said Luky.
 
Meanwhile, Prof. James Bell from VUW stated that this activity was firstly performed by the University in New Zealand in general. The Director of EMBRIO of IPB, Dr. Neviaty Zamany, added that it was important to strengthen the knowledge transfer among the students from New Zealand and Indonesia in order to strengthen the cooperation among countries in the future.
 
Various lectures and practices about the tropical ecosystems were provided during the Field Course. “On this occasion, the students are given the insight into the variety of information in term of biodiversity to management issues,” said Dr. Hawis Madduppa, as a lecturer of IPB.
  
Another lecturer of IPB, Beginer Subhan, M.Si, added  that the students could directly see the difference of the condition of coral reef ecosystem as a result of the human activities in Hoga Island and Pari Island.***
